I’m a mixed media artist who works using a wide variety of techniques and media, including print making, collage and clay. 

I studied Art & Design at North Devon College before completing a BA Honours degree in Textile Design at Winchester School of Art. I then worked as a textile designer and illustrator producing print designs for fabrics and a range of greetings cards which were widely distributed throughout England and America. I went on to qualify as a teacher and while teaching Art in London continued to produce work for galleries in both London and the West Country. I left my position as Head of Art at a School, in Cirencester in 2018 to work full time developing my own work. Moving back to North Devon, to renovate a house, and set up a studio. 

All my pieces reflect my love of pattern and colour and are inspired by my ever-growing collection of vintage ceramics and fabrics. I’m an avid explorer of charity shops and markets wherever I might be. On the hunt for any decorative piece of china to be the subject of a new work, often adding cut flowers from my garden to add further texture and colour to the image. I am continually developing the combination of materials I use in my work. Incorporating both found and created surfaces and pattern in my collages, making each piece unique.  

My still life pieces often begin as screen prints using a one-off textile printing method which forms the first layer of an image. I then work in inks, dyes and collage to add texture and detail to the prints.   

My love of textiles and fabric influences my work with clay as my interest lies in the surface decoration I can apply to the clay. Often using the technique of embossing with added painted decoration using under glaze and slip. The forms are simple cylinders or tiles decorative pieces rather than functional. 

I'm also happy to accept commissions – working from your favourite piece of china or family air loom to produce an individual piece of work. So please contact me.
